Into the Storm (formerly Black Sky) (2014) – Gary Fuller

In this tornado-disaster movie, filmed immediately after The Hobbit, Richard plays Gary Fuller, vice-principal of an American mid-western high school. Gary is a widower with two teenage sons, one of whom goes missing during a massive tornado. “I guess I could be the father of a teenager. … It was a bit of a surprise to me that I could be the father of a teenager, but these guys were such good fun and … it made me realize that, you know, their relationship without the mom in the house was very important, and finding the real heart and soul of what happens … when Donnie is lost, it was really important to me … for Gary to feel it intensely … and his prime motivation for getting him back is what drives him through the story.” (NYC Red Carpet, Librarygirl – Richard Armitage Central, 4th August, 2014.)

ITS3_BorderIf I was in a basement and I hear it coming, I’d be like, “I just want to look. I just want to see what it is making that noise. (‘Into the Storm’ star, Richard Armitage on Tornadoes, ‘The Hobbit 3’ and his lost role in Star Wars, Screen Crush, Mike Ryan, 5th August, 2014.)

ITSStunts_Border “I love doing stunts … I think you can always see when they put the stunt guy in. Plus, I like to know that I’ve been through what the character has been through and that I’ve done everything that he has had to do in the movie. I want to survive what my character survives.” (‘Into the Storm’ whisks actor Richard Armitage away from Middle Earth, The Columbus Dispatch, 5th August, 2014).

I suspect I’d be going in the opposite direction but I’ll be picking people up on the way. Um, it’s hard to predict, isn’t it, because you … hope that you have a survival instinct. I certainly don’t think I’d be running towards it with an iPhone. (Digital Spy talks with Richard Armitage and Max Deacon about Into the Storm (18th August, 2014)
