Richard's 40th birthday is fast approaching and Calexora over at Befuddled Musings is putting together a book with birthday wishes from fans to send to Richard. The deadline at the moment is 8th July. You can find all the information HERE.

For members of the AA@RAC forum, we traditionally send members' birthday messages to Richard and we will be sending them to Richard this year a little later.

Empire Magazine has released 2 new images of Gandalf and Bilbo and the Dwarves at Bag End. Their August issue, with The Hobbit on the cover, hits newstands on June 30.

Strike Back 2 will begin airing in the US on Friday, August 12 at 10.00 pm.

According to this review in the Otago Daily Times, Strike Back series 1 will be airing in New Zealand on Prime from Thursday, July 7 at 8.30. It doesn't mention Richard, other than to note he plays John Porter.

The scan of the Entertainment Weekly article with the new sneak-peak Hobbit pictures and an interview with Peter Jackson has been added to our RAC Library. It is 4 pages, be sure to click the next arrow to get to the next page.

In 2006 Richard read 5 bedtime stories for the BBC's children's channel, CBeebies - Flat Stanley, I'm Not Going Out There!, The Lost Acorn, Trouble at the Dinosaur Cafe, and Winnie in Winter. We've now added these to the RAC Gallery.

On facebook, Recognise Magazine has released 2 behind-the-scenes photos from the photoshoot they did with Richard recently. The photoshoot and full interview will be in issue 9, due in August.

Marvel and Paramount Studios released what is likely the final theatrical trailer for 'Captain America: the First Avenger.' It includes a new scene with Richard as Heinz Kruger. (Comicbookresources.com)

Three new 'Hobbit' pics have been released by Peter Jackson. Richard can be seen in the first one in costume as Thorin Oakenshield. See them on EW.com.

Peter Jackson announced two new cast additions to The Hobbit today. Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character—the Woodland Elf, Tauriel and Barry Humphries will be playing The Goblin King.

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM released a statement today officially announcing the 2 titles for The Hobbit and the official release dates. The first film, titled “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be released on December 14, 2012.  The second film, titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Peter Jackson has begun to answer fan questions about The Hobbit. Don't forget to check out the first image of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel brandishing an array of fearsome Elvish weapons.

The Audie finalists have been announced. Sadly, Venetia, the abridged audiobook of the Georgette Heyer novel read by Richard Armitage, nominated in the category of Best Adaptation, did not win. However, don't forget to check out the review at the link, "Richard Armitage’s voice aptly conveys the attraction between Venetia and Damerel, making the most of the novel’s rich dialogue and clever turns of phrase. Armitage manages to express all of Heyer’s opinions about her characters with a subtle sense of the ridiculous. Sella.co.nz has put up for auction the copy of The Hobbit signed by the cast for the Rise Up Christchurch charity. Richard has signed it, "For Christchurch, love, Richard A" and Sir Ian McKellen has drawn a picture of Gandalf. Registration on sella.co.nz is only open to residents of New Zealand and Australia. The auction ends at 8:00 pm Thursday, 2nd June, 2011.

Art Challenge 150 results for Robert Mitchum Icons now in the Gallery.

We have added caps of the dwarves costumes to the RAC Gallery :)

Sir Ian McKellen and Mark Hadlow were interviewed for Rise Up for Christchurch while donating a copy of The Hobbit novel signed by the cast and Sir Peter Jackson allowed a special, exclusive look at the dwarf costumes. Only a little tongue-in-cheek, maybe :D. We've uploaded the vid to the RAC Youtube page. It is rather wonderful! We have also uploaded the section featuring the dwarves in their 'costumes' to Youtube.

During the Rise Up for Christchurch telethon today in New Zealand, a video was shown of the Fill the Basin charity cricket match that took place this past March. Ian McKellen can be seen in the video and Martin Freeman and Mark Hadlow are interviewed. We have uploaded the video to the RAC Youtube page.

In the latest issue of SFX Magazine, Captain America star Hayley Atwell talks about her Peggy Carter role. When asked about any injuries, she replies, "Yes, I had a bullet-shell fired off near my head, when I stepped too close to Richard Armitage's gun...which was a bit dumb. And I had a mark there. And I had whiplash and a bruised rib from some other things. So yes, I've been in the wars a bit!" (Comicbookmovie.com)

At Te Papa in Wellington, the Trusts Stadium Arena in Auckland, and CBS Arena in Christchurch, Sir Ian McKellen will be auctioning a copy of The Hobbit signed by the entire cast in aid of Rise Up Christchurch, Sunday 22nd May. (Thanks to Mulubinba)

A superb pic of Lucas North has been posted with the Sydney Morning Herald's Entertainment Guide preview of Spooks episode 8 series 9. We have set up a new album for Sundry images and uploaded it to the Gallery. (Thanks to Peppin for getting this for us and to Smitkit and RichardArmitageNet for information.)

Peter Jackson has added 3 new cast members, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage (now apparently playing an additional role since he is already listed as playing Drogo Baggins), and Conan. We have added the details to our Forthcoming page.

A short preview of Spooks series 9 episode 8, with a pic, has been published in The Canberra Times and uploaded to our Library. (Thanks to Beachbaby).

Another Strike Back 2 preview has been released on sky.com. It has also been uploaded to the RAC youtube channel and you can download it from our media - tv page.

The Dominion Post has announced that a telethon to raise money to help those affected by the earthquake, "Rise Up Christchurch - Te Kotahitang" will be held on Sunday 22nd May. Sir Ian McKellen and the cast of The Hobbit have pledged support, there will be a dance-off at Te Papa with Shane Cameron and Candy Lane of Dancing with the Stars, Neil Finn will also be performing and Prince Edward will be sending a message of support. It will be webcast all day at http://www.riseup.org.nz/

Warner Bros. are screening a special extended version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy with each episode introduced by Peter Jackson from The Hobbit set.

It's a bit of a while ago but back in February, Stuff magazine listed Captain America, in Richard plays baddie Heinz Kruger, as one of the 5 superhero movies to watch this year. (Thanks to AJ)

Peter Jackson announced, on is Facebook page, that Rob Kazinsky, cast as Fili, will be leaving the production because of personal reasons. We sadly wish Rob all the best. The cast information on our Forthcoming page has been updated accordingly. Rob Kazinsky has since tweeted he is leaving for health reasons which will, hopefully, be sorted.

Peter Jackson has confirmed that Ian Holm will be appearing in The Hobbit as the older Bilbo Baggins and we have added this to our Forthcoming page.

We have uploaded a preview of Spooks 9 episode 4, to be aired on ABC1 in Oz at 8.30, Saturday 23rd April, to our Youtube channel. Don't forget, we have a full gallery of caps from series 7-9 in our Gallery as well as selected HD caps in our Salon. We also have Richard's interviews, including transcriptions of his audio and vid interviews, in our Library and downloads of audio clips from the epis as well as downloads of his interviews on our Media pages.

We have uploaded some new hi-res caps from the first video blog to the The Hobbit gallery to replace those uploaded earlier. We have also uploaded both a low-res and HD version of the sequence showing Richard at the Powhiri ceremony to bless the sound stage.

Peter Jackson has uploaded the first episode of his video blog of The Hobbit filming. The blog features the first day of filming including the Maori ceremony at which Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis speak.
